Wheetago War

Wheetago War is a stop motion animation based on the original story by Richard Van Camp.

In a world turned to ice, the Indigenous Peoples have survived the Wheetago for two lifetimes. Young Dove has the extraordinary gift of shifting genders. A bullfrog wants to give Dove his medicine; the Wheetago want to capture Dove and the knowledge to defeat this ancient evil can only be found in the past.

Traditional oral stories of the Wheetago, Windago and Winago have existed across indigenous cultures to teach us about greed. Currently, Indigenous leaders and communities are protesting four pipeline expansions. What will be the impacts of construction on wildlife habitats? What of the catastrophic effects of oil spills? And what of climate change? Those that consume the earth with greed will have to fight those that protect the earth. Directed by Amanda “Spotted Fawn” Strong, Wheetago War is a stop motion short film by Amanda “Spotted Fawn” Strong, based on the short story by Richard Van Camp.
